Meet Our Principal

Mrs. Brown brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and heart to her role as the new principal of Nancy J. Cochran Elementary. Born in Miami and raised in Chicago, she realized early in life that education was the key to building a better future. After graduating from Chicago Public Schools, she proudly served in the U.S. Army while earning her college degree. She later received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.

Her teaching career has taken her across multiple states and grade levels, including third grade in Virginia, kindergarten in Killeen ISD, and primarily fourth grade in Plano ISD. While teaching, she also earned a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Administration and Supervision. Mrs. Brown's passion for educational equity and student success is deeply personal, inspired by her own journey and the academic achievements of her daughters, both graduates of Howard University School of Law.

Since joining Dallas ISD, Mrs. Brown has served as assistant principal at Jimmie Tyler Brashear Elementary and Nancy J. Cochran Elementary. She has helped lead growth in student achievement while building strong relationships with staff, students, and families.

As principal, Mrs. Brown is committed to aligning Cochran’s school vision with Dallas ISD’s goal of being a premier urban school district. She is dedicated to ensuring that all students embrace learning, reach their full potential, and thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. With a clear purpose and a strong belief in every child’s potential, Mrs. Brown is honored to serve and lead the Cochran community.
