Nancy J. Cochran Autobiography

Nancy Jane Hughes Cochran, was born in Stokes County, North Carolina, on October 24, 1817. She and her husband, William M., were married in Columbia on September 21, 1837. The family came to Texas in 1843 and settled in what became Dallas County.

Nancy Jane sent the four oldest boys through McKenzie College in East Texas. Her four boys made substantial contributions to the advancement of Dallas County. On July 13, 1875, Nancy Jane was elected one of the four Vice-Presidents of the Dallas County Pioneer Association in the first election of that organization.  Nancy Jane Hughes Cochran passed away on October 15, 1877. She is buried next to her husband in Cochran Chapel Cemetery.
